Origins of Kirtan Retreat

Jan 28-Feb 10

A Unique Kirtan Training Experience in the ‘Birthplace of Kirtan’
Mayapur, West Bengal, India
(arrival and departure from Kolkata)

FACILITATORS:
Visvambhar Sheth, Shri Vrindavan & Guest Presenters.

Mayapur is the birthplace of the kirtan revolution. Every corner resonates with the power of sacred sound. The dust from the dancing lotus feet of Sri Caitanya, the founder of the modern Bhakti tradition, has not yet settled and is still perceivable in this land.

Dive deep into the Bhakti traditions with daily mantra meditation (japa), philosophical talks and discussions, Vedic stories and legends, learning how to wear traditional devotional fashion, pilgrimage excursions and specifically learning the primary instruments used in kirtan such as: harmonium, mridanga, kartals, and most importantly, your voice!

The atmosphere of Mayapur, on the banks of the Ganga, will inspire deeper creativity and devotion. The ‘Origins of Kirtan Retreat’ will feature various experienced teachers who will guide us on this journey of self expression through kirtan music.
